Laparoscopy is a process where a small telescope flexible tube-like equipment (laparoscope) with a cold light source on one end, is passed through a small incision through the navel. This instrument is used to view pelvic organs in the abdominal cavity causing infertility. A laparoscope is recommended for patients who may have problems that affect the uterus, fallopian tubes, or ovaries. If infertility has been longstanding for many years, if the patient has a medical history suspicious for an abnormality of the pelvis, an evaluation with laparoscopy is required.
Hysteroscopy is a process used to diagnose problems of the cervix and uterus. It is performed using a thin, low weight stretchable tube known as a hysteroscopy it is then inserted into the vagina to identify the problem. Hysteroscopy is a diagnostic tool that is correcting procedure. Hysteroscopy is recommended for women suffering from periods that are longer or heavier than normal, or bleeding between periods. In this procedure you’ll be sedated or put under general anesthesia, then a narrow tube with a telescope at the end is passed through the vagina and cervix into your uterine cavity, which is filled with fluid or gas.
